Hello world!

Standard

Hello world! is also the way we entered the field of Computing in early 1990s. Looking back I count myself lucky to have used Wang mainframes (with green display units) and IMB 34 series PCs. And how the world have changed since then?! ICT has advanced in leaps and bounds and the World is Flat (or flatter) as Thomas Friedman says in his book on globalization.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. – Mark Twain

Taking on his advice & using every bit of my free time, I’ve begun to live my life-long dream of travel. It must be a bug set in my schooling days… when as girl guides we used to go camping every six months, or the multitude of travel magazines and sites I visit ( savouring every colourful picture and minute detail) imagining splendid holidays!

Oh! they do entice us all don’t they? However rather than indulging in  exotic vacations I’d rather go on site seeing, trekking or mountain climbing. Even the more adventuress water rafting or safari’s will not hurt these old bones.  It may in fact take kids off their digital paraphernalia.
